A vulnerability was found in SeedDMS up to 5.1.7 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file op/op.UploadChunks.php of the component File Upload. The manipulation of the argument qqfile as part of a System Command leads to a unrestricted upload vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-434. Unrestricted file upload vulnerability in "op/op.UploadChunks.php" in SeedDMS (formerly LetoDMS and MyDMS) before 5.1.8 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by uploading a file with an executable extension specified by the "qqfile" parameter. This allows an authenticated attacker to upload a malicious file containing PHP code to execute operating system commands to the web root of the application.
The bug was discovered 07/02/2018. The weakness was published 07/31/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at sourceforge.net. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-12940 since 06/28/2018. The attack may be launched remotely. The successful exploitation requires a simple authentication.
