Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block of the file /cgi-bin/nasset.cgi of the component Web Management UI. An issue was discovered on PLANEX CS-W50HD devices with firmware before 030720. The device has a command-injection vulnerability in the web management UI on NAS settings page "/cgi-bin/nasset.cgi". An attacker can send a crafted HTTP POST request to execute arbitrary code. Authentication is required before executing the attack.
The bug was discovered 08/21/2018. The weakness was published 08/24/2018 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-12573 since 08/05/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. The requirement for exploitation is a single authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
