Details
A vulnerability was found in Tenda AC7, AC9, AC10, AC15 and AC18 15.03. It has been classified as critical. Affected is some unknown processing of the component Web Server. The manipulation of the argument ssid as part of a POST Request leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
An issue was discovered on Tenda AC7 V15.03.06.44_CN, AC9 V15.03.05.19(6318)_CN, AC10 V15.03.06.23_CN, AC15 V15.03.05.19_CN, and AC18 V15.03.05.19(6318)_CN devices. There is a buffer overflow vulnerability in the router's web server. While processing the ssid parameter for a POST request, the value is directly used in a sprintf call to a local variable placed on the stack, which overrides the return address of the function, causing a buffer overflow.
The bug was discovered 08/17/2018. The weakness was released 09/02/2018 (Website). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2018-16333 since 09/01/2018.
