In Pulse Secure Pulse Desktop Client 5.3RX before 5.3R5 and 9.0R1, there is a Privilege Escalation Vulnerability with Dynamic Certificate Trust.
The bug was discovered 08/24/2018. The weakness was disclosed 09/06/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared at kb.pulsesecure.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-16261 since 08/31/2018. The exploitation is known to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
