A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Poppler 0.68.0 (Document Reader Software). This issue affects the function Parser::getObj of the file Parser.cc. In Poppler 0.68.0, the Parser::getObj() function in Parser.cc may cause infinite recursion via a crafted file. A remote attacker can leverage this for a DoS attack.
The bug was discovered 09/06/2018. The weakness was shared 09/06/2018 as Bug 1622951 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-16646 since 09/06/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
