A vulnerability has been found in FURUNO FELCOM 250 and FELCOM 500 (version now known) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file xml/permission.xml. FURUNO FELCOM 250 and 500 devices allow unauthenticated access to the xml/permission.xml file containing all of the system's usernames and passwords. This includes the Admin and Service user accounts and their unsalted MD5 hashes, as well as the SMS server password in cleartext.
The bug was discovered 09/07/2018. The weakness was presented 09/10/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at cyberskr.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-16705 since 09/07/2018. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
