A privilege escalation flaw was found in the Ansible Tower. When Tower before 3.0.3 deploys a PostgreSQL database, it incorrectly configures the trust level of postgres user. An attacker could use this vulnerability to gain admin level access to the database.

The bug was discovered 09/11/2018. The weakness was published 09/11/2018 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-7070 since 08/23/2016. The attack needs to be initiated within the local network. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation.
