The logging feature in kcms_configure in the KCMS package on Solaris 8 and 9, and possibly other versions, allows local users to corrupt arbitrary files via a symlink attack on the KCS_ClogFile file.
The bug was discovered 02/21/2005. The weakness was published 02/18/2005 by iDefense Labs with iDEFENSE (Website). The advisory is shared for download at classic.sunsolve.sun.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-0481 since 05/18/2004. The attack can only be done within the local network. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
