A vulnerability has been found in HDF5 up to 1.10.3 (Database Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function ReadGifImageDesc of the file gifread.c. The manipulation as part of a GIF File leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. A heap-based buffer overflow in ReadGifImageDesc() in gifread.c in the HDF HDF5 through 1.10.3 library allows attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted HDF5 file. This issue was triggered while converting a GIF file to an HDF file.
