IBM WebSphere Portal 7.0, 8.0, 8.5, and 9.0 is vulnerable to cross-site scripting. This vulnerability allows users to embed arbitrary JavaScript code in the Web UI thus altering the intended functionality potentially leading to credentials disclosure within a trusted session. IBM X-Force ID: 147164.
The bug was discovered 09/25/2018. The weakness was released 09/27/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared at exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-1716 since 12/12/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
