Details
A vulnerability classified as very critical has been found in Cisco Connected Safety and Security Unified Computing System (version unknown). This affects an unknown function of the component Video Surveillance Manager. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a hard-coded credentials vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-798. The product contains hard-coded credentials, such as a password or cryptographic key, which it uses for its own inbound authentication, outbound communication to external components, or encryption of internal data. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A vulnerability in Cisco Video Surveillance Manager (VSM) Software running on certain Cisco Connected Safety and Security Unified Computing System (UCS) platforms could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to log in to an affected system by using the root account, which has default, static user credentials. The vulnerability is due to the presence of undocumented, default, static user credentials for the root account of the affected software on certain systems. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by using the account to log in to an affected system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to log in to the affected system and execute arbitrary commands as the root user.
The bug was discovered 09/21/2018. The weakness was shared 10/05/2018 with Cisco as cisco-sa-20180921-vsm as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at tools.cisco.com.
