An issue was discovered in Joomla! before 3.8.13. Inadequate checks in com_contact could allow mail submission in disabled forms.
The bug was discovered 10/01/2018. The weakness was disclosed 10/09/2018 by Paul (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at developer.joomla.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-17859 since 10/01/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1211 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
