A vulnerability was found in BigTree CMS (Content Management System) (the affected version unknown) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown part of the file admin.php. Authenticating a user, or otherwise establishing a new user session, without invalidating any existing session identifier gives an attacker the opportunity to steal authenticated sessions. A Session Fixation issue was discovered in Bigtree. admin.php accepts a user-provided PHP session ID instead of regenerating a new one after a user has logged in to the application. The Session Fixation could allow an attacker to hijack an admin session.
The bug was discovered 10/11/2018. The weakness was disclosed 10/19/2018 (GitHub Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-18380 since 10/16/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
