A vulnerability was found in Apple iCloud up to 7.7 on Windows (Cloud Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component WebKit. A resource exhaustion issue was addressed with improved input validation. This issue affected versions prior to iOS 12.1, tvOS 12.1, Safari 12.0.1, iTunes 12.9.1, iCloud for Windows 7.8.
The bug was discovered 10/30/2018. The weakness was disclosed 10/29/2018 by Sabri Haddouche with Wire Swiss GmbH as HT209198 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-4409 since 01/02/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1499 for this issue. The advisory points out:

It is assigned to the family MacOS X Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 371294 (Apple iTunes for Windows Prior to 12.9.1 Multiple Vulnerabilities (HT209197)).
Upgrading to version 7.8 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
