A vulnerability was found in Microstrategy Web 7. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown part of the file admin/admin.asp. Microstrategy Web, version 7, does not sufficiently encode user-controlled inputs, resulting in a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability via the admin/admin.asp ShowAll parameter. NOTE: this is a deprecated product.
The bug was discovered 10/30/2018. The weakness was published 10/31/2018 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at packetstormsecurity.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-18776 since 10/28/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
