Incorrect dialog placement in Extensions in Google Chrome prior to 70.0.3538.67 allowed a remote attacker to spoof the contents of extension popups via a crafted HTML page.
The bug was discovered 10/16/2018. The weakness was disclosed 11/14/2018 by Samuel Gross (xisigr) (Website). The advisory is available at chromereleases.googleblog.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2018-17477 since 09/25/2018. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 06/06/2023). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future.
