Details
A vulnerability was found in Google Android (Smartphone Operating System) (the affected version unknown). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown part of the component Linux Kernel. The manipulation as part of a Connection Request leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In all android releases(Android for MSM, Firefox OS for MSM, QRD Android) from CAF using the linux kernel, while processing a fast Initial link setup (FILS) connection request, integer overflow may lead to a buffer overflow when the key length is zero.
The bug was discovered 08/06/2018. The weakness was presented 11/27/2018 (Website). The advisory is available at source.codeaurora.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2018-11260 since 05/18/2018. The exploitability is told to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
