A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox up to 1.0.1 (Web Browser). It has been classified as problematic. This affects an unknown functionality of the component HTML Link Table Handler. Mozilla Firefox 1.0.1 and possibly other versions, including Mozilla and Thunderbird, allows remote attackers to spoof the URL in the Status Bar via an A HREF tag that contains a TABLE tag that contains another A tag.
The bug was discovered 03/15/2005. The weakness was published 03/14/2005 by bitlance winter (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-4809 since 08/29/2006. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
