A vulnerability was found in Moxa NPort W2x50A up to 2.1 (Automation Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown part of the file /goform/net_WebPingGetValue of the component Web Server. The manipulation as part of a HTTP POST Request leads to a os command injection vulnerability. An exploitable authenticated command-injection vulnerability exists in the web server functionality of Moxa NPort W2x50A products with firmware before 2.2 Build_18082311. A specially crafted HTTP POST request to /goform/net_WebPingGetValue can result in running OS commands as the root user. This is similar to CVE-2017-12120.
The bug was discovered 11/29/2018. The weakness was published 12/06/2018 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-19659 since 11/29/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation.
