A vulnerability has been found in PHP up to 5.x/7.2.x (Programming Language Software) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function imap_mail of the file ext/imap/php_imap.c. The manipulation of the argument message with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. ext/imap/php_imap.c in PHP 5.x and 7.x before 7.3.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and application crash) via an empty string in the message argument to the imap_mail function.
