A vulnerability was found in WebID 1.2.2. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the file getthumb.php. The manipulation as part of a HTTP GET Request leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. WeBid version up to current version 1.2.2 contains a Directory Traversal vulnerability in getthumb.php that can result in Arbitrary Image File Read. This attack appear to be exploitable via HTTP GET Request. This vulnerability appears to have been fixed in after commit 256a5f9d3eafbc477dcf77c7682446cc4b449c7f.
The bug was discovered 11/22/2018. The weakness was shared 12/20/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at bugs.webidsupport.com.
