A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in MailEnable up to 8.59 (Mail Server Software). Affected is an unknown code of the component Message Handler. The manipulation with the input value /../ leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
MailEnable before 8.60 allows Directory Traversal for reading the messages of other users, uploading files, and deleting files because "/../" and "/.. /" are mishandled.
The bug was discovered 03/10/2015. The weakness was presented 01/16/2019 (Website). The advisory is available at web.archive.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-9277 since 01/16/2019.
