Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Cisco Aironet Active Sensor (Wireless LAN Software). This affects an unknown functionality of the component Default Configuration. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a hard-coded credentials vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-798. The product contains hard-coded credentials, such as a password or cryptographic key, which it uses for its own inbound authentication, outbound communication to external components, or encryption of internal data. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:
A vulnerability in the default configuration of the Cisco Aironet Active Sensor could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to restart the sensor. The vulnerability is due to a default local account with a static password. The account has privileges only to reboot the device. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by guessing the account name and password to access the CLI. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to reboot the device repeatedly, creating a denial of service (DoS) condition. It is not possible to change the configuration or view sensitive data with this account. Versions prior to DNAC1.2.8 are affected.
The bug was discovered 02/06/2019. The weakness was published 02/07/2019 as cisco-sa-20190206-aas-creds as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at tools.cisco.com.
