A vulnerability was found in Zabbix up to 3.4.3 (Network Management Software). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block. The manipulation of the argument request as part of a Parameter leads to a redirect vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. Zabbix before 2.2.21rc1, 3.x before 3.0.13rc1, 3.1.x and 3.2.x before 3.2.10rc1, and 3.3.x and 3.4.x before 3.4.4rc1 allows open redirect via the request parameter.
The bug was discovered 02/18/2019. The weakness was published 02/17/2019 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at lists.debian.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-10742 since 02/17/2019. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1204.001.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 176638 (Debian Security Update for zabbix (DLA 1708-1)).
Upgrading to version 2.2.21rc1, 3.0.13rc1, 3.1.x, 3.2.10rc1, 3.3.x or 3.4.4rc1 eliminates this vulnerability.
