A vulnerability was found in Tautulli 2.1.26. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the file data/interfaces/default/history.html of the component Plex Username Handler. data/interfaces/default/history.html in Tautulli 2.1.26 has XSS via a crafted Plex username that is mishandled when constructing the History page.
The bug was discovered 02/19/2019. The weakness was presented 02/19/2019 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2019-8939 since 02/19/2019. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. We discovered that an authenticated Plex Media Server user could change their Plex username to include JavaScript and Tautulli would fail to sanitize the username so that when the Plex Media Server administrator viewed certain pages generated by Tautulli, the JavaScript would be executed in the context of the server administrator.
