Details
A vulnerability was found in Cisco HyperFlex Software up to 3.5 and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component CLuster Service Manager. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A vulnerability in the cluster service manager of Cisco HyperFlex Software could allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to execute commands as the root user. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by connecting to the cluster service manager and injecting commands into the bound process. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to run commands on the affected host as the root user. This vulnerability affects Cisco HyperFlex Software releases prior to 3.5(2a).
The bug was discovered 02/20/2019. The weakness was published 02/20/2019 with Cisco as cisco-sa-20190220-hyperflex-in as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at tools.cisco.com.
