When the RSS Feed preview about:feeds page is framed within another page, it can be used in concert with scripted content for a clickjacking attack that confuses users into downloading and executing an executable file from a temporary directory. *Note: This issue only affects Windows operating systems. Other operating systems are not affected.*. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 64.
The bug was discovered 12/11/2018. The weakness was presented 02/28/2019 by Samuel Gross (xisigr) as Bug 1422231 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-18496 since 10/19/2018. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
