A vulnerability was found in Simple Machines Forum 2.0.4 (Forum Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown code of the file install.php. The manipulation of the argument db_type with the input value ../ leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Simple Machines Forum (SMF) 2.0.4 allows local file inclusion, with resultant remote code execution, in install.php via ../ directory traversal in the db_type parameter if install.php remains present after installation.
The bug was discovered 04/14/2013. The weakness was published 03/08/2019. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-7466 since 02/05/2019. The exploitability is told to be easy.
