Details
A vulnerability has been found in kill-port Module up to 1.3.1 on npm (NPM Package) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component Port Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
If an attacker can control the port, which in itself is a very sensitive value, they can inject arbitrary OS commands due to the usage of the exec function in a third-party module kill-port < 1.3.2.
The bug was discovered 01/05/2019. The weakness was presented 03/21/2019. This vulnerability was named CVE-2019-5414 since 01/04/2019. The attack can be initiated remotely.
