Details
A vulnerability was found in mod_auth_mellon up to 0.14.1. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function apr_uri_parse of the component URL Handler. The manipulation as part of a Backslash Character leads to a redirect vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A vulnerability was found in mod_auth_mellon before v0.14.2. An open redirect in the logout URL allows requests with backslashes to pass through by assuming that it is a relative URL, while the browsers silently convert backslash characters into forward slashes treating them as an absolute URL. This mismatch allows an attacker to bypass the redirect URL validation logic in apr_uri_parse function.
