Use-after-free vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted JavaScript code that interacts improperly with a CollectGarbage function call on a CMarkup object allocated by the CMarkup::CreateInitialMarkup function.

The issue has been introduced in 03/22/2001. The weakness was released 05/21/2014 by Peter Van Eeckhoutte (corelanc0d3r) with Core as ZDI-14-140 as confirmed advisory (Website). This vulnerability is being disclosed publicly without a patch in accordance with the ZDI 180-day deadline.
This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-1770 since 01/29/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
