In Wireshark 3.0.0, the IEEE 802.11 dissector could go into an infinite loop. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-ieee80211.c by detecting cases in which the bit offset does not advance.
The bug was discovered 04/08/2019. The weakness was released 04/09/2019 by Mateusz Jurczyk (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2019-10897 since 04/05/2019. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
