A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in libxslt up to 1.1.33. Affected is the function xsltCheckRead/xsltCheckWrite of the component Protection Mechanism. libxslt through 1.1.33 allows bypass of a protection mechanism because callers of xsltCheckRead and xsltCheckWrite permit access even upon receiving a -1 error code. xsltCheckRead can return -1 for a crafted URL that is not actually invalid and is subsequently loaded.
The bug was discovered 04/15/2019. The weakness was released 04/10/2019 (Website). The advisory is available at lists.fedoraproject.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2019-11068 since 04/10/2019. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 276355 (TencentOS Server 3: libxslt (TSSA-2022:0062)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 172453 (OpenSUSE Security Update for rmt-server (openSUSE-SU-2019:1527-1)).
