In Eclipse OpenJ9 prior to the 0.14.0 release, the Java bytecode verifier incorrectly allows a method to execute past the end of bytecode array causing crashes. Eclipse OpenJ9 v0.14.0 correctly detects this case and rejects the attempted class load.
The bug was discovered 04/22/2019. The weakness was published 04/19/2019 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.eclipse.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2019-10245 since 03/27/2019. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Upgrading to version 0.14.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
