A vulnerability has been found in Tenda AC7, AC9 and AC10 (version now known) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the component Web Server. The manipulation as part of a POST Request leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. An issue was discovered on Tenda AC7 devices with firmware through V15.03.06.44_CN(AC7), AC9 devices with firmware through V15.03.05.19(6318)_CN(AC9), and AC10 devices with firmware through V15.03.06.23_CN(AC10). A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the router's web server (httpd). When processing the page parameters for a post request, the value is directly written with sprintf to a local variable placed on the stack, which overrides the return address of the function, a causing buffer overflow.
The weakness was disclosed 04/25/2019. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-14557 since 07/23/2018. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
