A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox, Firefox ESR and Thunderbird (Web Browser) (unknown version). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Mozilla developers and community members reported memory safety bugs present in Firefox 65, Firefox ESR 60.5, and Thunderbird 60.5. Some of these bugs showed evidence of memory corruption and we presume that with enough effort that some of these could be exploited to run arbitrary code. This vulnerability affects Thunderbird < 60.6, Firefox ESR < 60.6, and Firefox < 66.
The bug was discovered 03/19/2019. The weakness was presented 04/26/2019 by Markus Vervier (Nils) with X41 D-Sec GmbH (Website). The advisory is shared at access.redhat.com.
