Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Sun Java JDK and SDK up to 1.5.0_02 (Programming Language Software). Affected is an unknown function of the component Jar Archive Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and integrity. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in the Java Archive Tool (Jar) utility in J2SE SDK 1.4.2 and 1.5, and OpenJDK, allows remote attackers to create or overwrite arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in filenames in a .jar file.
