A vulnerability was found in Ninja Forms Plugin up to 3.0.22 on WordPress (WordPress Plugin). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown functionality of the file includes/fields/upload.php. The manipulation of the argument name/tmp_name as part of a Parameter leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Path Traversal and Unrestricted File Upload exists in the Ninja Forms plugin before 3.0.23 for WordPress (when the Uploads add-on is activated). This allows an attacker to traverse the file system to access files and execute code via the includes/fields/upload.php (aka upload/submit page) name and tmp_name parameters.
The bug was discovered 04/04/2019. The weakness was disclosed 05/07/2019. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2019-10869 since 04/04/2019. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
