A vulnerability was found in Moxa AWK-3121 1.14 (Router Operating System). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the component Certificate Upload. An issue was discovered on Moxa AWK-3121 1.14 devices. The Moxa AWK 3121 provides certfile upload functionality so that an administrator can upload a certificate file used for connecting to the wireless network. However, the same functionality allows an attacker to execute commands on the device. The POST parameter "iw_privatePass" is susceptible to this injection. By crafting a packet that contains shell metacharacters, it is possible for an attacker to execute the attack.
The weakness was presented 06/07/2019 (Website). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-10699 since 05/03/2018. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
