The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2019-1034 since 11/26/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Microsoft Word software when it fails to properly handle objects in memory. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could use a specially crafted file to perform actions in the security context of the current user. For example, the file could then take actions on behalf of the logged-on user with the same permissions as the current user.

The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 110335 (Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office Services and Web Apps Security Update June 2019).
