Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Linux Kernel up to 4.20.14 (Operating System). Affected by this vulnerability is the function nfc_llcp_build_tlv of the file net/nfc/llcp_commands.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. As an impact it is known to affect availability. The summary by CVE is:
An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel before 4.20.15. The nfc_llcp_build_tlv function in net/nfc/llcp_commands.c may return NULL. If the caller does not check for this, it will trigger a NULL pointer dereference. This will cause denial of service. This affects nfc_llcp_build_gb in net/nfc/llcp_core.c.
The weakness was disclosed 06/14/2019 as confirmed changelog (Website). The advisory is shared at mirrors.edge.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2019-12818 since 06/13/2019.
