A vulnerability was found in Vera VeraEdge and Veralite (unknown version). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file connect.sh. An issue was discovered on Vera VeraEdge 1.7.19 and Veralite 1.7.481 devices. The device provides a shell script called connect.sh which is supposed to return a specific cookie for the user when the user is authenticated to https://home.getvera.com. One of the parameters retrieved by this script is "RedirectURL". However, the application lacks strict input validation of this parameter and this allows an attacker to execute the client-side code on this application.
The weakness was disclosed 06/17/2019 as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-9390 since 06/02/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
