A vulnerability was found in wu-ftpd 2.4 (File Transfer Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component site exec Command. Certain configurations of wu-ftp FTP server 2.4 use a _PATH_EXECPATH setting to a directory with dangerous commands, such as /bin, which allows remote authenticated users to gain root access via the "site exec" command.
The weakness was published 11/30/1995 by Olaf Kirch. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-1999-0080. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
