A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Eric Allman Sendmail 8.6.9 (Mail Server Software). Affected is some unknown functionality of the component ident Handler. Sendmail 8.6.9 allows remote attackers to execute root commands, using ident.
The issue has been introduced in 04/19/1994. The weakness was released 01/01/1997. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-1999-0204. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
