A vulnerability has been found in Berkeley Sendmail 8.8.3/8.8.4 (Mail Server Software) and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component MIME Handler. The issue has been introduced in 11/17/1996. The weakness was released 01/20/1997 with CERT as CA-97.05 as not defined advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-1999-0047. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/28/2025).
