Details
A vulnerability was found in Das Q (unknown version). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown code block of the file /install. The manipulation of the argument releaseUrl as part of a ZIP Archive leads to a injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-74. The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Das Q before 2019-08-02 allows web sites to execute arbitrary code on client machines, as demonstrated by a cross-origin /install request with an attacker-controlled releaseUrl, which triggers download and execution of code within a ZIP archive.
The weakness was shared 08/03/2019. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2019-14551 since 08/02/2019. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1055 for this issue.
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
