The bug was discovered 10/01/1997. The weakness was published 10/01/1997 as 00156 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is available at sunsolve.sun.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-1999-0185. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
