A vulnerability classified as critical was found in REDCap up to 9.2.x. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the file Calendar/calendar_popup_ajax.php of the component Edit Calendar. The manipulation of the argument cal_id as part of a Parameter leads to a sql injection vulnerability (Time-Based). The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. REDCap before 9.3.0 allows time-based SQL injection in the edit calendar event via the cal_id parameter, such as cal_id=55 and sleep(3) to Calendar/calendar_popup_ajax.php. The attacker can obtain a user's login sessionid from the database, and then re-login into REDCap to compromise all data.
The weakness was published 08/17/2019 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at evms.edu. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2019-14937 since 08/11/2019. The attack can be launched remotely. A single authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
