A vulnerability was found in SGI IRIX 6.3/6.4 (Operating System). It has been rated as critical. Vulnerabilities in (1) ipxchk and (2) ipxlink in NetWare Client 1.0 on IRIX 6.3 and 6.4 allows local users to gain root access via a modified IFS environmental variable.
The issue has been introduced in 09/01/1996. The weakness was released 04/08/1998 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com.
