A vulnerability was found in HP JetAdmin Rev. D.01.09 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the file /tmp/jetadmin.log. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. HP JetAdmin D.01.09 on Solaris allows local users to change the permissions of arbitrary files via a symlink attack on the /tmp/jetadmin.log file.
The weakness was published 07/15/1998 by emffmmadffsdf as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-1999-1433.
